The what and the why

I’ve been meaning to write something, anything really, to get the momentum going and actually build a portfolio. I don’t know what to write about though. I need a prompt, a topic, a goal, to push me to a writing frenzy. Yes, that is what I want, a writing frenzy, a moment of inspiration, flow.

I’ve been looking at different magazines and journals, publications I can write for, but nothing really stuck with me. Nothing truly resonated. I’ve submitted a few times though, but I haven’t found the right place for my work.

Maybe I am aiming too high? Too soon? I would love to be published but until then, I have this blog, my salamisim, my memory, to hone my skills and provide a space for my thoughts and feelings.

So, what finally urged me to start?

A very painful left foot.

I have this condition called plantar fasciitis, which presents as heel pain to the extent that I can’t walk for some time.

It truly is debilitating and sad. So much so that it has moved me to finally write.

I started training for a 10K race last week. I haven’t walked or jogged that frequently in a very long time. So, my plantar fasciitis said hello with a very big and loud greeting.

And guess what, I waved hi back with this humble blog.

I wanted to share with the world my experiences, how this has prevented me from some things, but also allowed me to appreciate others.

So here I am, telling you about my what and why.

I’m here to talk about the difficulties and challenges of having this condition, which ultimately is caused by my obesity. It’s been trying but that hasn’t stopped me from enjoying places, going to sights, and just living the best of my life. If anything, it has spurred me to write about all the revelries and pleasures this planet has to offer.

Well, then, let’s start.
